WEB SITE INFORMATION

  • This website is an extension of THE QUALTROUGH FAMILY website and has been developed to place on line the hundreds of Qualtrough references that have been gathered in the course of the QUALTROUGH Family History research world wide.

  • The QUALTROUGH family originates in the Isle of Man, UK.  The name originates from McWalter and has been written in a variety of ways - MacWhaltrough, McWalter, Qualtair, Qualtro, Qualthrough Waterson, Watterson etc.  For further information on the history of the name visit THE QUALTROUGH FAMILY website (see below).

  • Its purpose is to make available to future Qualtrough family historians and other researchers information which has been gathered along the way as part of any One-Name Study.  It is hoped that by providing this facility, future researchers will have an easier time in locating the information they are seeking.

  • These reference indexes are NOT to be confused with the Qualtrough Family Tree database which will be placed on a separate web facility sometime in the future.  These indexes are many lists of Qualtrough references gathered from many and varied sources.  The categories will include births, baptisms and christenings, marriages, divorces, deaths and burials.  There will also be obituaries, probates and wills indexes, newspaper references, shipping list references, census extracts, references from the Internet in many categories, land and title deed references, and others compiled along the way.

  • The lists will be arranged in their categories, then by geographical area.  Where possible the information will be referenced  back to its original source so researchers can check for themselves the original documents and records.  Records obtained off the Internet will be sourced back with a link to the relevant website so the researcher can check further and extend their search.

  • Information on this website is from sources which are in the public domain. No claim to copyright is expressed or implied. Names, dates and places are public information and as such are free of any copyright claim.  Lists on this site are comprised in all instances of this type of information.

  • As you can no doubt imagine, we have collected a lot of information to be included on this site.  Like all web sites this one is continually evolving and as a result not all the information will be available straight away.  Please check back frequently as this site will be updated on a regular basis.

  • References are always sought. If you locate any in the course of your research, please send them to the contact email address on this website.  They can then be added to this resource database.  Thank you.
